Catalan Juniors Football Tournaments
The Catalan Juniors Football Tournaments take place at Easter, Whitsun and October.
Football team age groups are as per the Catalan Football Federation:
Juvenils: Players born in 89,90 & 91
Cadets: Players born in 92 & 93
Infantils: Players born in 94 & 95
Alevins: Players born in 96 & 97
There is a separate venue for each age group, all of which are in the Costa Brava and Girona area (transfer time by coach, approx. 30 to 45 mins). The football tournament is a "round robin" format with groups of 4 teams, so over the 2 days each team is guaranteed 5 fixtures. 1st round fixtures are 20 mins each way and semis and finals 30 mins each way. The football tournament takes place if there is a minimum of 3 teams in each age group.
All participants receive a tournament medal and attendance certificate. All football teams receive a commemorative plaque and the overall winner takes home the Catalan Juniors Football trophy to hold until the following edition. The trophy must be returned but each winning team keeps the winner's plate from the trophy.
At Easter the tour has a 5 day format as follows:
Sun: Arrive Resort Mon or Tues: Tournament play; Depending on the number of teams, 1st round matches are played on the Monday or the Tuesday. Teams not playing visit Barcelona Wed: semis and finals; Thurs: Depart Resort.
The day trip to Barcelona includes a visit to the world famous Camp Nou , home to F.C. Barcelona.
At Whitsun the soccer tournament is played over a weekend and the format is as shown on our title page.
Accommodation is usually in the ApartHotel Sant Jordi , a 30min coach ride from the tournament venue. The hotel offers 4 bedded rooms, 2 level swimming pool, bar, buffet restaurant, games area, self service laundry and its own mini supermarket.
